Scripps College Landscape and Architectural Blueprint
Scripps College, a small, private women's liberal arts college located in Claremont, California, is uniquely Southern Californian. Architect Gordon Kaufmann and landscape architect Edward Huntsman-Trout designed most of the buildings, courtyards, and gardens that comprise the central campus between 1927 and 1939. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a rare example of unified architectural and landscape planning. Funded by a Campus Heritage grant from the J. Paul Getty Trust, Historic Resources Group prepared a cultural landscape report is to document the history, existing conditions, significance, and integrity of the campus. The Blueprint contains appropriate treatments for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the buildings and grounds with emphasis on the future needs of the campus and its stewardship role.
