Santa Anita Park
Historic Resources Group researched and prepared the nomination to list Santa Anita Park on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally constructed in 1934, the park, consisting of the horse racetrack and surrounding buildings, was found by the California State Historical Resources Commission and the National Park Service to be significant in its association with events important to history both as a racing venue and as a World War II relocation center for Japanese-Americans. It is also an example of a distinctive architectural style by renowned architect Gordon B. Kaufman that is increasingly rare in California. Santa Anita Park was formally listed on the National Register on August 3, 2006.
