Rose Bowl Stadium
Historic Resources Group completed a comprehensive physical evaluation of the
Rose Bowl Stadium, a National Historic Landmark, in 1995 as a mitigation measure for infrastructure
improvements. The resulting
Historic Structure Report and
Preservation Plan
included an illustrated construction history of the stadium; a guide to the
treatment of historic materials found at the facility; a chronological database
of all changes made to the facility; and a complete bibliography and guide to
the archives where historic drawings and photographs of the Rose Bowl are
located.
The innovative Historic Structure Report and Preservation Plan were designed
to be actively used by facilities management as future decisions are made
regarding the property. Historic Resources Group was honored with a
Los Angeles Conservancy Preservation Award
for the Rose Bowl Historic Structure Report in 1998.
The firm has continued to monitor construction during recent improvements projects. Among the additions to the stadium to improve its function for current programming requirements were video and matrix display boards, accessible toilets and seating areas, and new stadium seats.
