Playa Vista

Historic Resources Group prepared a determination of eligibility report in 1991 for the Hughes Industrial Site at Playa Vista. The site was a primary business venue of Howard Hughes, Jr. who made significant contributions to two important Southern California industries: motion picture production and aviation. The report concluded the site was eligible for listing in the National Register as a historic district. In 1995 HRG prepared a Historic Resources Treatment Plan that has guided both the rehabilitation of historic buildings and development of new construction on the site. Since that time and as recently as 2005, HRG has worked on several determinations of eligibility of existing buildings at Playa Vista and studies of conformance of new construction to the treatment plan.
